Just jokes....These are sites to visit when you need some snappy one-liners, regional (the politically correct way of saying "ethnic") humor, or want to make friends think you are just the life of the pary, you witty thing you.
FunnyboxFunnybox claims "We couldn't afford a farm, so we got a box." Besides their collection of email jokes and other verbal witticisms, you will find cartoons, the Lukewarm Psychic Jar, and a grab bag of other gags.
The Humor Archives. Really, the name says it all. This site has a search function, so you can find topic specific jokes, especially handy if you are giving a speech or some such thing.
Rec.Humor.FunnyWelcome to rec.humor.funny, the net's oldest and most popular comedy publication and newsgroup. This home page features descriptions and history of rec.humor.funny, access to current and old jokes, a searchable archive of past jokes, and an index of other funny web pages. rec.humor.funny is first a USENET Newsgroup that provides you with daily, editor-selected jokes.
Sips from the Dribble Glass of Life Funny pictures? Useless trivia? They've got it! This site is based on the belief we should all "drink deeply from the Dribble Glass of Life." It's about perspective, about being able to laugh at ourselves and being in on the cosmic joke.
The Big Waste of Space Or, as the page's author, Wesley Treat, refers to it "The sweet pill that makes life better." Lot's of funny headstones, road signs, and Texas humor.
The Institute of Official Cheer "Where the past comes to life, so we can promptly beat it to death again." Old pop culture is subjected to our patented Re-Ironization Process, and converted into chipper, spiffy, feather-light postmodern commentary on commercial culture. Or, to put it another way: there’s enough here to kill two, maybe three lunch hours.
Chicken Head "Chock Full o' Nothingness" Contains Virtual Housecalls, Loserscopes, and some truly offensive/tacky humor, too.
Timothy McSweeney's Lists People submit the lists, and McSweeney posts them. Some of my favorite lists include: "Signs on the Lawns of People Whose Lawns You May Want to Avoid", "Actual Band Names that Double as Excuses for Showing Up Late to Work" and "Names of Squash That Also Make Good Terms of Endearment".
Modern Humorist Comedy Under Siege.
The Onion "America's Finest News Source". I have been a long time subscriber to this newspaper, and found it hilarious that a Beijing paper recently had to run a major "retraction" after reporting that the U.S. Congress was refusing to return to work until they got big, expensive new headquarters. This was an Onion "story" that the Beijing Evening News printed as fact. Very tongue in cheek, some of it offensive, most all of it funny.
AdBusters You can subscribe to their magazine, but be sure to also check out the online offerings. You can quickly demystify even the most glazed over teenaged eyes with the help of these snoops of the Ad World. AdBusters is a reader-supported magazine with no ads, offering incisive philosophical articles as well as activist commentary from around the world, addressing issues ranging from genetically modified foods to media concentration. Their aim is to forge a major shift in the way we will live in the 21st century.
National Lampoon They've been funny longer than there's been an internet, even the ones real geeks knew about. Their current online mag offers a send up of "Men's Health".
Satire Wire "Because you can read, and we have a website" is the intro to this site, where the truly literate can also purchase books (they're like lots of papers from your printer, all bound together for easy travel.) Tongue-in-cheek look at current news events, Onion style but with more emphasis on politics.
Rump Roast Half a laugh, Classic Comebacks, Wisdom of Children (not necessarily for kids!), and Rejected Bumper Stickers are just a few of this site's many features.
Allied Chemical It's a Better World--Through Chemicals!
Despair, Inc.This is quite possibly my favorite site. You've all seen those posters with a breathtaking photo and a single word of inspiration below, right? Things like "Commitment", "Motivation" and "Teamwork". They are in doctor's offices, schools, even the swim club my kids attend. Well, for those of us with lives of less success, this site offers us items that DEmotivate. Yes, here are your posters, sticky pads, etc. with words like: "Bitterness", "Regret" and "Delusions".
Weasel Breweries The sanctified lifestyle of these home brewers is a model in a world which shuns such devotion. Be sure to read the "Rule of St. Attila of the Endless Tab" and meet the "Monks of Ann Arbor Avenue". Hats off to Kirk for a first class website.
Welcome to the White House And at least briefly, an unsuspecting visitor may think they found the official government website, until they are confronted by a "Jesus votes Republican" pop up window and commentary on the Mandatory Patriotic Tattoo Measure. Funny but VERY irreverant!
Betty Bowers is a Better Christian Than You I absolutely guffawed at this one. First of all, it's funnier if you have been TOLD by someone that they are a better Christian than you. I had this written to me, and sent by CERTIFIED MAIL. So people like this do exist, and they have no problem pointing out how evil others are and treating them as non-existent. This has not swayed my Faith....I know what Jesus would have to say. But What Would Betty Do????
Late Show with David Letterman It is rare that I am awake when this show airs, but I love it when I am, and frequently check out what's been going on in Dave's World, especially his infamous Top Ten Lists. Which leads me to another Top List site:
The Top 5 Lists A list for each and every occasion.
The Simpsons Archive For years, I bashed this show. And I had never even watched it! Then, when my son was in the hospital with no kid channels, he insisted I leave on the show "with the yellow skinned people". We've been hooked ever since. If you are a fan, too, you'll enjoy a visit to this site.

The Not So Subtle, and definitely-more-visual category of humor, created by people with sick, twisted, abnormal minds. I like them.
Also available in print! Yes, you can enjoy these publications online, OR have them sent to your door for your special reading time in the Great Relief Room.
